TCG Letter #224 / Carpenter Letter #99

Tolkien expresses sympathy to Ms. Williams and her son, and his grief over the loss of her husband Charles Williams.

The transcript in Carpenter's Letters is complete. The original handwritten letter is reproduced in C. S. Lewis: Images of His World, edited by Clyde S. Kilby and Douglas Gilbert (1973). The original was also reproduced (partially obscured) in the Wheaton College 1987 Daily Events Calendar.
