Tolkien writes to R.W. Chambers's daughter, Hermione Jolles, offering memories of 1911 when he was driven to Oxford by her father. Tolkien remarks that Chambers disliked the then new building of Brasenose College. He goes on to describe his trip to Switzerland, comparing his company to Bilbo and the Dwarves, and mentions almost being hit by a boulder falling down a snowy slope.
