G.E. Selby sends Tolkien a note. Mentioned in Chronology, p. 320 with no details of the content, but we assume that Tolkien's own note, Letter from J.R.R. Tolkien to G.E. Selby • 7 July 1946 (#126) is in answer to Selby. Tolkien replied that he has not, contrary to reports, retired, and he hopes that with Wrenn now at Oxford as Professor of Anglo-Saxon, he will be relieved of some of his academic duties and have time to write again.
