Stanley Unwin returns to Tolkien his signed copy of the agreement for the Farmer Giles of Ham contract with a cheque in advance of royalties. He explains why the amount is low. He includes material which Tolkien had requested to be returned and asks Tolkien to write and supply a brief paragraph about the forthcoming publication to be used by GA&U for their announcements.
