After learning that Christopher Wiseman, one of Tolkien's oldest friends and last survivor of the TCBS lived local to him, Matt Bunker wrote to Wiseman to inquire if he might be allowed to visit him to talk about his friendship with J.R.R. Tolkien. He was writing an article for the Tolkien Society's journal Amon Hen.
Christopher Wiseman replies that he would be happy to talk with him and includes directions to his house. He closes by ask Matt if he would "kindly bring" with him a copy of The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien which had been published in 1981. He visited a number of times and they talked about the TCBS, JRRT, and about Tolkien's work on Tolkien's entry for 'wasps' for the Oxford English Dictionary.
