TCG Letter #2801

From
Jean Poindexter Colby
To
J.R.R. Tolkien
Date
15 September 1950
Type
Unknown, Author Copy/Book
Transcript
Unknown
Jean Poindexter Colby, children's books editor at Houghton Mifflin Company, writes to Tolkien. She has included twelve copies of the US edition of Farmer Giles of Ham. She hopes Tolkien will sign off on the binding and dust jacket, noting that it is more cheerful than the British version. She remarks that they do not have enough sheets to meet US demand for The Hobbit.
Notes
Hammond and Scull remark that they do not know if the twelve copies of Farmer Giles sent are in addition to copies which will be sent to Tolkien by GA&U on 19 October.
