Mr Haywood, a young reader of The Lord of the Rings, had written a letter of appreciation to Tolkien. The letter reflects on the success of The Hobbit. He is very pleased that his books are successfully entertaining readers. He makes reference to The Silmarillion, which acted as a backdrop to The Lord of the Rings.

Note that Scull & Hammond refer to the recipient as Mr. Hayward, but the letter/envelope clearly show Haywood.
