Tolkien writes to Stanley Unwon, enclosing a new version of chapter five of the Hobbit. He has decided to accept both versions of the chapter and will when time allows, write a prefatory note to be included in The Lord of the Rings. He also remarks on a discrepancy noted by some readers. He explains that Thrain who, the old King under the Mountain,According to Thror's Map[1] is not the same person as Thrain, son of Thror.
