Written while Tolkien was training as part of the Lancashire Fusiliers.^{He was stationed at Rugeley Camp, Staffordshire.[1]} He is working on his poem 'Kotirion among the Trees' and mentions sending it to the T.C.B.S.^{The Tea Club and Barrovian Society. This group was made up of Tolkien and his friends, including Chris Wiseman, G.B. Smith, Rob Gilson and others.[2]}
