Tolkien apologizes for the delay in sending the revised manuscript for The Lord of the Rings. His move was incredibly challenging. Tolkien has finally completed the revisions for Books I and II of The Lord of the Rings.

He sends the original Foreword, notes on alterations for the publication of the work in three volumes, and mentions the undecided matter of appendices at the end of Volume III. Tolkien discusses the drawing of designs for Book II, Chapter IV, and the potential inclusion of facsimiles of burned and torn pages of the Runic Book in an appendix.
