Tolkien writes to Michael about his trip to Switzerland and writes about his own trip in 1911. He also talks about 'trends' in the Catholic Church and how the poetry in The Lord of the Rings had been received.

Of the 1911 trip, Tolkien mentions that he was one of 12 cadets who were sent to line the route of King George V coronation, yet in the King Edward's School Chronicle of July 1911 it is noted as being eight cadets.
