Tolkien writes about the publication of a proposed book about him by W.H. Auden.Quotes from this letter appears in Kilby's Tolkien & The Silmarillion, p. 71 and p. 73.[1]

This letter comes shortly after Tolkien had written to W.H. AudenCarpenter #284: Letter from J.R.R. Tolkien to W.H. Auden • 23 February 1966 (#657)[2] and he copies a paragraph from that letter into this. Tolkien is not happy with any proposed book on him from Auden, as can be read in the published letter #284 (see footnote or reference).
