This letter, known as the Plotz Letter, or Plotz Declension was a letter written by Tolkien that contained manuscript notes regarding Quenya grammar.

This letter "...dates from late 1966 to early 1967, being a response to a request at my interview on 1 Nov. 1966" (Dick Plotz, quoted in Vinyar Tengwar #6).

The chart that shows the declension of a Quenya noun, with an explanation of the chart on the verso of the sheet. Plotz now believes that this sheet was included with Carpenter #283a: Letter from J.R.R. Tolkien to Dick Plotz • 12 January 1966 (#1027).

The hand-written chart is reproduced in Beyond Bree, March 1989. A transcript of the chart and the explanation can be found in Vinyar Tengwar #6. A reproduction of the chart and the handwritten explanation is reproduced in "Tolkien Language Notes #2" compiled by Jim Allen (1974).
