This rare box set of The Lord of the Rings trilogy books is a must-have for any fan of J.R.R. Tolkien's work. The books are beautifully presented in a sturdy box and will make a great addition to any collection. The quality of the books is excellent and they have been well-maintained over the years, having only 3 owners since new in the early 60’s. Each book in the set is a masterpiece and will transport you to the magical world of Middle Earth. The attention to detail and the intricate plot lines are a testament to Tolkien's writing skills. If you are looking for a timeless classic that will never go out of style, then this box set is the perfect choice. Originally purchased by a family friend, Minnie Bird, who was a lecturer at Durham University, she left them to my brother when she passed away. My brother passed earlier this year and I have inherited them with his estate. The books are in excellent condition with some fading to the spines on the dust jackets and slight damage to the jacket spine on one book. The books themselves are in the original cloth with gilt lettering which is all immaculate as shown in photos. I don’t think the dust jackets have ever been removed. There is light wear to the box but nothing major. Each book has a map attached at the back and these maps are all in mint condition as if they have never been unfolded. There only seems to be one page damaged, as shown in the photos. I am not a book dealer and don’t have a great knowledge but I have done some research to find this particular set was only printed to a limit of 1000.
