Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Up for sale is a hardback copy of the 1st British edition, 1st printing of The Adventures of Tom Bombadil (1962), which includes the following poems: • “The Adventures of Tom Bombadil” • “Bombadil Goes Boating” • “Errantry” • “Princess Mee” • “The Man in the Moon Stayed Up Too Late” • “The Man in the Moon Came Down Too Soon” • “The Stone Troll” • “Perry-the-Winkle” • “The Mewlips” • “Oliphaunt” • “Fastitocalon” • “Cat” • “Shadow-bride” • “The Hoard” • “The Sea-Bell” • “The Last Ship” According to Hammond’s Tolkien Bibliography, there were “10,000 copies planned.” The book is in good plus condition. The corners and edges are quite bumped and rubbed, especially the bottom of the spine (see picture) and bottom of the book, and there are a few other chips and scrapes here and there to the boards. The corners of the pages of the textblock are also slightly bumped/bent. The main art of the cover, though, is in pretty good condition (see pictures). The dust jacket has chips and tears (see pictures) and someone has placed two pieces of Scotch tape, one at the top and the other at the bottom of the spine where most of the larger tears are at (see pictures). There is a small pencil line on the very bottom of the pastedown page (see picture). The dust jacket is protected in a Mylar book jacket cover. I'll send you an invoice at the end of the auction with the total for all items including shipping.
