Condition: The slipcase is quite toned, marked, rubbed, battered and stained, with signs of exposure to moisture to the lower edge. The books look little read and are firmly bound in red cloth, lettered and decorated in gilt to the spines, there is some slight rubbing and bumping at the spine ends, minor marks to the cloth and some loss of colour to the bottom of The Fellowship's spine due to water damage. The text blocks are slightly toned and marked, the red top-stains are unusually bright and clean due to having been protected by the slipcase, the maps are all firmly attached and in generally good order. The dust jackets are the originals and not price clipped, they are slightly marked, rubbed and toned, with some minor nicks and creasing to the edges, the spines are quite faded and sunned and the red dye from the cloth has slightly stained the reverse of The Fellowship's jacket at the bottom of the spine.
