JRR Tolkien's The Lord of the RingsA Rare US First Edition Set! Offered at an Amazing Price! Well these do not come up for auction very often. They are in lovely condition. They have not been price clipped and the maps are at the back of each book. Since the day of purchase, they were a set together - once owned by someone in California - his small label at the top of each dust jacket on the inside front flap. There are no other names, marking, or bookplates. The pages are bright and the gold to each of the three volumes is still bright and prominent. The dust jackets look wonderful! The Fellowship dust jacket has minor chipping to the edges, but still looks great! This is how you want to see them on a shelf! These have been well cared for the past 60 years! They were all printed in 1959, and since they were the same pages printed in the UK, they just mailed the pages and then bound the books in the US (by Houghton Mifflin); their printings can be identified quite easily. The dust jackets are gorgeous and not enough of these wonderful copies were printed - or survived! The Fellowship of the Ring is a ninth printing and a scarce 1500 copies were printed. Given the popularity and fragility, not many survived in this condition. The Two Towers is a sixth printing, and again, only 1500 copies printed. 'Aragorn' on Pg. 18, Line 42 is still spelled correctly. The Return of the King is a fifth printing and only 1000 copies were printed. With Amazon Prime throwing big dollars into The Lord of the Rings TV series, and multiple seasons already settled upon, the desire for these "precious" books will only rise in the near future. I will package these with the greatest of care. Shipping to the US is free. Shipping to the UK will be $60 - this is three books and rather heavy. If you have any specific questions, I will do my best to answer. Best of luck!
