Condition: A good first edition, first printing.
J. R. R. TOLKIEN - THE TWO TOWERS - The second book in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy This is a first edition, first printing published in 1954 by George Allen and Unwin. The book: Red with gold lettering on the spine. The gold at the bottom that spells the publisher's name in a bit tarnished but The Two Towers bit at the top is nice and bright. The book is quite solid, the outside is quite clean with some small creases at the top and bottom of the spine. The pages are a bit grubby at the edges at the beginning but there are no names or writing. The last page of the book has an old sellotape repair (it wasn't me) and there is a huge map that is folded at the back. This has also had some sellotape treatment and I think it might be upside down. I've taken lots of photos so you can see. The other pages seem quite clean, it is certainly in readable condition from start to finish. The dustjacket: The book has an original dustjacket but I have been told this is NOT A FIRST EDITION dustjacket because it says 'Ninth Impression' on the front fold over. It is however in quite nice condition, with some creases at the edges but no chunks missing or big stains. The first edition, first printing of The Two Towers is quite a rare book with only 4000 copies ever being printed (it has of course been printed millions of times since). This is by no means a perfect copy, it's been read, and read, and read but it is 70 years old. If you have any questions please ask away and I will answer them as quickly and honestly as possible. I also own a copy of The Fellowship of the Ring which I will list on ebay at the same time as this. Thanks for looking and good luck if you are going to give it a go.
