Condition: A good first edition, fourth printing.
J. R. R. TOLKIEN - THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING - The first book in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy This is a first edition, fourth printing published in 1955 by George Allen and Unwin. The first printing was in 1954. The book: Red with silver lettering on the spine. The book is quite worn to the cloth at the bottom edge especially at the spine ends. The spine is a bit slanted. The pages are a pretty clean and there are no names or writing. There are a few brown marks on the blank pages at the front and the back. There is a huge map that is folded at the back, this is in good shape. The page tops are red. I've taken lots of photos so you can see the condition. It is certainly in readable condition from start to finish. The dustjacket: The book has an original dustjacket but it says 'Twelfth Impression' on the front fold over. It has lots of tears and creases and is a bit grubby at the edges but there are no large chunks missing or big stains. I am also offering for sale at the same time as this auction a first edition, first printing of The Two Towers so please do take a look at that also. If you have any questions please ask away and I will answer them as quickly and honestly as possible. Thanks for looking and good luck if you are going to give it a go.
