Up for auction is this 7 volume (one per book, plus appendices) hardcover, slipcased, Chinese edition of The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien, Illustrated by Alan Lee. Translated by Deng Jiawan, Shi Zhongge, and Du Yunci. First edition, sixth impression, printed in May of 2024.
Please note that not all photos are of the exact item listed. I wound up ordering two copies from Temu and am selling the second one. The volumes for sale have never been removed from their slipcase. The first 5 pictures (of the volumes in the slipcase or the outer box) are of the item for sale, the rest are demonstrations taken from the other copy.
The bindings are sewn, and the cases are covered in what seems to be a synthetic material with the appearance of buckram and a rubberized feel. The slipcase fit is not too snug, but the covers do tend to grip each other a bit.
Volumes 1 & 6 feature fold-out maps, with a larger folded map stored at back of the slipcase. Postcards are loosely inserted to each volume.
