A rare 1960 boxed set of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Internally in rare near fine condition with good condition DJs In original George Allen and Unwin cardboard slipcase. The slipcase is in good condition. Secure and square. Some minor staining to side one corner only. The books all have original dust jackets. All 1960 editions. Fellowship of the Ring has a 9th impression jacket although the book itself is an 8th impression. This was often the case if the retailer had run out of jackets. Two Towers is a 7th impression and has appropriate 7th DJ. ROTK is a 6th impression and has appropriate 6th DJ. All 3 DJ are complete and in good condition with minor dust fade to spine. Some nibbling to creases. All unclipped. Fellowship has has DJ crease edges nicely strengthen in the past. Two Towers has very minor closed tear to DJ near the spine. The books themselves are in near fine condition. All have lovely dark red cloth covers. All covers immaculately clean, seemingly always being protected by DJs. The is no wear to cloth and no the most minor rubbing to cloth corners. Corners still square. Internally all books are unmarked. No owners inscriptions. All crisp clean pages and maps all present and undamaged in any way The books may never have been read. No sign of usage. Spine block in mint condition. Rare to find an easy box set in such fine condition. Please do not hesitate to request further photos on request.
