Original Illustration Art:featuring the first serialization of "The Hobbit" from Princess and Girl Magazine (1964) Please see photos: This is very rare original artwork by Ferguson Dewar done for Princess and Girl Magazine in 1964. Featured here are images of Bilbo (with 60s hair!) and the Elvenking. It is done in ink on artist board. Board is yellowed a bit with age, but still in nice condition. Board measures 10.5 x 6 inches. This art was the first ever serialization of The Hobbit done across 15 issues and has come to be affectionately known by collectors as "The Princess Hobbit". It was the first English-language edition of The Hobbit to be illustrated by an artist other than the author and had Tolkien's direct consultation and consent. The original artwork was sold at auction has been dispersed into private collections. A selection of drawings was loaned by the Greisinger Museum for display at the 1964-2014: Lo Hobbit illustrato exhibition in Vigevano, Italy, to celebrate fifty years of illustrating The Hobbit and facsimilies of the full set of 83 drawings were exhibited at Tolkien 2019 in Birmingham as part of a celebration of fifty years of The Tolkien Society.
