THE RETURN OF THE KING by J.R.R. TolkienFirst Edition, First Impression published in the UK by Allen & Unwin 1955 Up for auction is my First UK Edition (Allen and Unwin 1955), FIRST impression, of JRR Tolkien's classic, The Return Of The King, part 3 of "The Lord Of The Rings" trilogy, in a beautiful condition facsimile dustjacket (protected by removable Brodart jacket cover)! This book is in good condition, with an inscription (dated in November 1955) which you can see in the picture. The map in the back is intact and perfect/mint. I am not a book dealer, just a big Tolkien fan, so see the pictures to verify the condition of this very hard to find collectible book. With part 2 of "The Hobbit" outpacing the first installment in worldwide box office, the value of these first editions will just continue to climb, and become harder and harder to find! The Return of the King was first published by George Allen and Unwin on October 20th, 1955. Its publication was delayed by six months due to the difficulties Tolkien experienced trying to bring the Appendices into publishable form, compiling an index and drawing the detailed map of Gondor. After many trials and tribulations Tolkien finally pulled together the Appendices but abandoned the idea of an index, while his son Christopher drew the map. The copy of the map in this volume is perfect, as if never opened (see pictures). I offer this collectible with NO RESERVE and a low opening bid, so here's your chance to get a great deal on a hard-to-find, first edition copy of this classic! See my feedback and bid with confidence! Last but not least, I will provide FREE (and fast!!) SHIPPING worldwide (using eBay's global shipping program)!! Good luck!! Additional pictures available upon request!
