Welcome to the Fleur Charity Bookshop. We hope to add many more vintage books. We aim to describe as accurately as possible and want all buyers to be happy with their purchases. Here we have an early vintage set of the Lord of the Rings from 1957 , however in very poor condition. In all 3 the dust jackets are extremely tatty, stained, with tears and marks, Sellotape repairs inside here and there, partly missing on one as can be seen, some writing on another . Original price of 21 shillings net intact on all.The boards are all marked/stained and worn, especially to edges and notably the spine which is fraying on all sides. There are 4 maps , one attached at the back of each book and another one which is completely loose.Other details as follows: The Fellowship of the Ring is the seventh impression. There are names inside the front, browning to flyleaves, runic writing to the title page. The binding is loose at the front, slightly loose at the back but otherwise tight throughout and the pages, tho aged, are surprisingly mostly clean but with some marks here and there. Outer edges extremely brown/grubby. The Two Towers is the fifth impression. It has a name inside, runic writing to the title page again. Binding slightly loose at the front and quite loose at the back, Mostly tight otherwise slightly loose at one point. Pages fairly clean but with quite a few marks here and there, also a few spots and some corner creases. The back flyleaf appears to be torn out/ missing.Outer edges extremely brown/grubby. The return of the King is the third impression. It has a name inside and runic writing again. It is in the worst condition of all 3. Binding quite loose at the front and back and also several places in the main body of the book. Marked spotting to flyleaves front and back. Pages fairly clean but again quite a few marks/spots dotted about and writing added to the page of runes. Outer edges again extremely brown and grubby.
