This volume is bound in the publisher’s original boards and is housed in the distinctive pictorial dust jacket produced for the Tolkien Centenary, featuring gold bands lettered in Tengwar at the head and foot of the jacket, and the official Tolkien Centenary roundel to the rear panel.
This amazing scene shows the dragons, balrogs and orcs that were sent to attack the city of Gondolin. The battle was between the forces of Gondolin under King Turgon and Morgoth, after Maeglin had betrayed the city's hidden location to the enemy.
The book is edited by Christopher Tolkien and represents the standard revised text of the work.
I think this copy is the fourth printing of the 1992 HarperCollins Edition, as indicated by the number line.
This book is in very good condition, and showing no signs of reading.
The contents are clean and fresh throughout, with no inscriptions, or foxing.
It has one very small defect on the inside back hardcover, which is approximately 1cm by 0.5cm, and I have shown this on my pictures.
The dust jacket is complete and bright, with no tears and has a very slight waviness to the top and bottom edges, from storage.
This is a very attractive printing of the Tolkien Centenary Silmarillion, well preserved and increasingly difficult to find in this condition.
Thanks for looking, and I hope I have given you enough information and pictures about this book 🌟
