Condition: Both volumes are in very good condition, with no inscription or previous owner bookplate, tight bindings and clean pages throughout. The only notable 'blemish' is creasing at the bottom lower corner of the first couple of pages of the first volume (see images). The dust-jackets are unclipped and protected within removable transparent archival Mylar protective sleeves.
Harper Collins (2007) John Rateliffe's acclaimed study of The History of The Hobbit by J.R.R. tolkien, in two volumes, (1) Mr Baggins, and (2) Return to Bag-End, both volumes illustrated with multiple full colour plates, and with dustjackets bearing Tolkien's own original colour illustrations. Both volumes are first printings of the first hardback edition, showing the year 2007 and no.1 printing in the colophons, and thus highly collectable. Both books are in very good condition, with no inscription or previous owner bookplate, tight bindings and clean pages throughout. The only notable 'blemish' is creasing at the bottom lower corner of the first couple of pages of the first volume (see images). The dust-jackets are unclipped and protected within removable transparent archival Mylar protective sleeves. Will be very protectively packaged to ensure safe shipment. UK delivery by the UPS one-day service except for addresses in Northern Ireland and the Scottish highland and islands for which MyHermes or DPD will be used, with a longer delivery time, normally 3-5 days.
