Condition: VG book in G- dustjacket. Details below.
Farmer Giles of Ham by J. R. R. Tolkien First edition, first printing, in dustjacket. Embellished by Pauline Diana Baynes: many black line illustrations throughout, and two color plates including the frontispiece. Published by George Allen and Unwin Ltd., London, MCMXLIX (1949). Printed in Great Britain. This book is in very good condition in a good minus dustjacket. The dustjacket is chipped, torn, with paper loss - please inspect photos. It is protected in an archival wrap. The book itself is very good, with a tight, secure binding, clean pages without writing, and illustrations throughout. Please note the mild darkening at the top and bottom of the spine, where there is paper loss to the jacket. Corners are lightly bumped. Faint stain on right side of title page midway down, and mirrored on margin of opposite page - look closely at first photo. Golden yellow cloth with blue print on front and spine. Faint smudge soiling to back cover. Decorative endpapers, printed on quality paper. This book is an ideal selection for serious J. R. R. Tolkien and classic fantasy collectors!
