About the Book

The History of Middle-earth is a massive 12-volume editorial project by Christopher Tolkien that tracks the decades-long evolution of his father’s legendary legendarium. Rather than a continuous story, it acts as a literary archaeology project, presenting J.R.R. Tolkien’s earliest drafts, abandoned concepts, and changing visions for the lore, languages, and chronologies of Arda.
