Product Description & Condition
This is a classic 1971 Book Club Associates (BCA) one-volume edition of the full trilogy. This release is highly prized by fans for its stunning wrap-around dust jacket artwork by Pauline Baynes, the only artist Tolkien personally praised for her Middle-earth illustrations.
Condition Details:
Overall Grade: Good (Vintage)
Dust Jacket: Present and unclipped. Features the iconic Baynes "triptych" illustration. The jacket shows light shelf wear and minor chipping at the spine ends consistent with its 55-year age. There is a small closed tear on the edge (not visible when shelved) and light foxing to the white panels, but it remains bright and displays excellently on a shelf.
Hardcover Boards: Firm red cloth boards with bright gold gilt lettering on the spine.
Internal Pages: The text block is clean and crisp. Includes a neat, vintage-appropriate gift inscription on the front endpaper dated "October 1971," which adds a lovely sense of history to this original 70s copy.
