I think Tolkien wrote to Christopher that he never actually called his wife Luthien? This would be at odds with the Christmas card?
Tolkien also knew how to spell Lúthien, unlike the author of this card.
Maybe he wrote the card as a last minute thing after a few rounds down the pub with CS Lewis and his mates... ;)

At which point CS gave him that pipe. All makes sense.
Tolkien said that Edith was his Lúthien, but I've never seen evidence that he asked for Beren to be added for himself.
Without looking at a single comment, one cursory glance told me all I needed to know.F for FAKE. That preposterous drawing being by Ronald is pathetic drivel. We are sadly entering a new era. One that will embrace AI enhanced trickery to deceive one yet this time these clumsy efforts should fool no one with half a brain. File under, absurd.

I noticed that one of the items (lot 30) has a signature in blue ink that seems very similar to the one of the 'signed' Puffin Hobbit from 1961, already discussed here in the past for being doubtful (low possibility that Tolkien would have signed a Puffin edition of the Hobbit); and which has recently show up again at auction.
I am not an expert, but these 2 are really thought provoking.

This one seems crazy to me. Lot 38

He said to Christopher in Carpenter's Letter #340 (J.R.R. Tolkien to Christopher Tolkien, 11 July 1972) that he "never called Edith Lúthien – but she was the source of the story that in time became the chief part of the Silmarillion." He of course in the same letter remarked that "she was (and knew she was) my Lúthien." but we can only take Tolkien at his word that he never directly called her it.
Taking the spelling, and Tolkien's own admission to Christopher, plus the myriad of other issues across this auctions series of items, I would not touch these items.

These are very reminiscent of the ‘Dear Higgins’ forgeries (which is not to say these items are forgeries, just that they bring those blue signatures to mind).

The signature in the photo accompanying the pipe that is marked 1959 is a fake signature straight up...and not a very good one at that.

The Guide to Tolkien's Letters gives us a great guide to Tolkien signatures, as well as being a great research tool.
