Thank you Trotter for spotting this!
I was planning to get this new edition (I have the 2006 revised edition paperback), but never got around to it with all the new stuff coming out.
I was a bit disappointed to hear about the missing two pages, but I wonder if "early misprints" could still have a robust collectible value in the future? Are there any documented previous cases of misprints that have enhanced, rather than detracted from, the collectible value when it comes to Tolkien or Tolkien-adjacent works? Or has it historically been mostly an annoyance?
Not really, people want to read the whole book, sometimes misprints can be used to identify the state or printing of a book, but in a mass market book like this they detract from it.
Yes, books with mis-prints or mistakes almost never add to the value, with very few exceptions. Especially books produced after 2000. In most cases it can be useful to identify which printing or variant a volume is...but that's about it and often detracts from a book's value.
I have been informed by TolkienTalk, https://www.youtube.com/TolkienTalk, who have done a video review on the book, about another issue with the book.

On Page 125, a text box is repeated. It should not be on the top right of the page, just at the bottom left.

I had an email today from HarperCollins with an update and have just ordered a new copy of the book.
For anyone who has been holding on for the reprint, the books have arrived in our warehouse, so we are now shipping UK copies with the missing pages restored.

Trotter, to be clear we have to buy a second copy ? they are not replacing the faulty ones ?

Could you let us know if they also fixed the other issues that have been mentioned in this thread when you get the new copy? 🤓
When will other markets (U.S. for me) get the fixed version? I held off getting this because of the missing pages.

I am not aware of any replacement programme, I have bought a second copy.

I will compare the two copies.
Thank you for the updates Trotter.
I also held purchasing this until I heard about a new printing. Will keep an eye out for it.
Do you know if they will change the print line information for the corrected edition?
