The laminated DJ definitely decreases the value, but it is better than a missing one. Early to mid 1950's Hobbits w/ jacket, don't come to market that often and when they do they almost always sell for four figures these days.

I agree with you, the asking price is silly.
Yes, all 500 contain Christopher's (and Ted Nasmith's) signature, they were produced as part of the book's 20th anniversary celebrations and the release of the 2nd edition text.
