That's a fine copy, a little nicer than mine, actually! I wouldn't be surprised if it sells for that.
My UK 1959 is essentially "as new", bar tanning on the jacket spine. I remember being embarrassed that I'd paid £220 for it (the most I had paid for any Hobbit at the time). Times have changed!
The listing contains a “card” with a supposed Tolkien signature. The seller has no provenance. Curious to hear what the experts here think of it.
A few of us were chatting about this item in another thread, at first the J in JRR gave me pause and the odd nature of the listing (grouping two items together that have no relation) The handwriting is neater than Tolkien's usual hand, but considering that it's a visitor's book (for others to read) and looking at other examples from around the same time period. I think(key word there) that this item is genuine. IMO
