Serkis got a reputation here in NZ for being a bit insufferable and taking credit for a lot of other people’s work. I struggle to get past this when considering these new movies. We shall see if I can separate art from artist in a year and a half or whenever it comes to streaming.

It will never cease to be ironic that those who are anguished by "culture wars" are always those that forment them. The Guardian commands that the production of the film "must" conform to its idea of modernity, I'm not sure why art has to conform to something a newspaper tells it to.

Thereby seeking to turn it into “a weapon in the culture wars”, i.e. the very thing which the Guardian proclaims, right there in its own headline, it ought not to be. The irony of this seems lost on them.

Those 'anguished' by it come from all 'sides', such as when Amazon announced Ismael Cruz Cordova in Rings of Power. Those "anguished by 'culture wars'" have subjected him to endless racism and made threats of violence against anybody defending him against that racism.
