Finally bought a copy of this. Needless to say, it wasn’t cheap. When it arrived, it was so tightly wrapped with tape in its mailer that the dust wrapper has a permanent crease all the way down the front (it looks worse in real life than in the picture). Going to try to smooth it out with sustained pressure, but I’m very annoyed at the sender.

Put it at the bottom of a stack of a few books and leave it there for a few weeks. It'll smooth out.

Thanks, Mr. Underhill. Doing that now. It’s just stressful when the more precious items arrive this way, especially when it’s so avoidable.

Oh ya, totally understand, this happened to me with a copy of Angles and Britons (although not sure it was the dealers fault) so, I put it underneath a couple of heavier books for a while and it smoothed out mostly.

Thanks, that's reassuring to know!
That won't totally go. When paper creases the fibres are torn. It will improve, but it won't return to the state it was before it was creased. Unless it was a good price, I'd probably just return it. Not like PoMEs are that scarce. If it was a good price, I'd probably stick it in a home-made book press (i.e. two pieces of MDF, two sheets of acid free paper and a bunch of G clamps for a while and accept it isn't 100% perfect, but it is good enough.
Looks like it just came out of the publisher’s box.
