The elusive Barron edition! I real tricky one to find...

Edited by Christopher Tolkien, the author's son. The usual Editor was Barron.

THE SILMARILLION by J.R.R.TOLKIEN 1ST ED 1977 Nr Mint Edited Christopher Tolkien

That's one of the most weird comments I've seen in an auction description of a Tolkien book...

Of course, I have a one in seventh chance of that edition being sold separately.

No mention of the CD or slipcase that have also gone AWOL, but I pity anyone who buys this as a reading copy of The Lord of the Rings

As well as only getting part of LR, check out the postage too: AU $80 to the UK!

Now, to other matters...

Didn't you always think Howard Marks & Tolkien went well together?

The Silmarillion J.J.R. Tolkien & Mr Nice - Howard Marks - Excellent Condition

I love the comment:

Great replacement!
Your bidding for:
1 x The Silmarillion J.J.R. Tolkien - paperback
1 x Mr Nice - Howard Marks - paperback - first few pages have a light yellow stain

Look at the state of The Silmarillion --great replacement for what?

This one will be very difficult to beat, the description gives no idea at all as to what the seller is putting up for auction, you can not even really try and guess.

So please reply if you can tell what they are selling (no cheating by contacting the seller)?

He has listed 3 auctions on ebay, you have three chances to acquire whatever it is

A 1" piece of Tolkien's smoking jacket which he wore whilst writing the Fellowship

Full certificate of authenticity from Sauron himself.

Well worth the .99p opening bid i would say

It is a bit light for me for a smoking jacket, good guess
