Bargains like this don't come along very often, so don't all bid at once.

only $99,999.99 or £62,912.86 (bit disappointed that postage was extra otherwise may have snapped this up )

I was ready to hit "buy it now" until I noticed that the slipcase was not included - how gullible do they think we are?

The condition doesn't sound all that great -

"minor marks to book covers and pages edges. Previous owners name top FEP of the Two Towers and Return of the King and on page with the Lord of the Rings poem in the FOTR. There is also some ink inscriptions in the FOTR and ROTK volumes on the FEP/inside book cover/BEP, one of which seems to be an illustration of a pyramid scheme and another a list of actors. Maps present in FOTR and TT, not in ROTK."

But what strikes me is that he doesn't mention the fact that the slip-case is not original.

I think we've mentioned this seller (1973lee1973) and this very item before. DM slipcase, was it not? And, as you say, seller makes no mention of this. Have a look at this sellers items once, and you'll notice them listed & relisted again & again. This has been up on eBay for years; I'm sure it's the same set.
