A President’s daughter, an astronaut, and a film star wrote to express their enthusiasm for Tolkien
Thus spake Carpenter about the Tolkien zeal in the US since 1965.
The president's daughter is apparently Lyndon Johnson's daughter. (Maker 104) The astronaut is perhaps Scott Carpenter, though there could be more. Do we have any clue who is the film star? The closest thing I can find is Ava Gardner mentioned in Letters No.267.
