This is a SFX Magazine from May 2009. It has a 4 page article about the series including an interview with Brian Sibley. As you can see, the magazine cover is not related to the series it only has a reference to the article.

Here we have another UK 2002 release of the series. It was released on both tape and CD. Both consisted of a boxed set containing 3 cases, each titled to the 3 books. The covers to the boxes and the cases are colourful but a very generic design.

It is interesting that there appears to be 2 different UK sets both released in 2002, but that’s what all the evidence and research points too. Unless someone knows differently.

These must be the last set that was on cassette tape and CD, interesting that 11 years later we are seeing the end of series like this on CD, the end of an era.

These are 3 promotional badges/pins produced for the original release of the series. They are made out metal. I am unsure how you original obtained these.

Here we have a German CD boxed set release of the series. I believe that this was released in 2003. It is on 10 CD’s which is quite unusual. Although it is a German release, the series is still in English. The box cover art is “The Dark Tower” by legendary Tolkien artist John Howe.

This is the sheet music of the theme of the series. It is the music for the Piano. The theme was written by Stephen Oliver. The cover of the music is the iconic image by Eric Fraser.

Here we have a US CD boxed Gift set from 2002 which includes both the BBC Lord of the Rings and Hobbit series. The overall box has a lenticular image by John Howe “The Fall of Gondolin” which is interestingly not a scene from either the Hobbit or Lord of the Rings. The image on the Hobbit case is by the Brother Hildebrandt “Smaug”. The Lord of Rings is in 3 cases, each titled to the 3 books, with art by John Howe “Black Riders in the Shire”, “Gandalf Before Minus Tirith” and “Eowyn and the Nazgul”. The set also comes with a large map.

This is another US CD boxed set of the series. I believe that this was released in 1999 and has 13 CD’s. The box art is by the Hildebrandt Brothers “Departure at Grey Havens”, which is the image used on the first US cassette boxed set.

Here we have the Collectors CD boxed set of the trilogy, which I believe was released in 2003. The CD’s are in a metal case shaped as the One Ring, engraved with the ring inscription. The set also includes a bonus CD featuring “Microphones in Middle Earth” which is a behind the scenes documentary about the making of the series.
