Looks like season two will be appearing on a screen near you, in the Autumn of next year.

RINGS OF POWER SEASON 2 FOCUSES ON SAURON
Amazon has confirmed that the second season of “#TheRingsOfPower” will focus on #Sauron and Mordor.

These new episodes will explore the origin of The Dark Lord and, according to their creators, will be more faithful to the “Lord of the Rings” books and the work of JRR Tolkien.

The series is currently in the process of filming and won't return until 2024

At the risk of focusing on the wrong thing, why on earth are there inverted commas around Lord of the Rings?

I'm picturing air quotes

I actually enjoyed this. I mean, TOLKIEN is on my bookshelf....so I'm not expecting this to be gospel or anything. I watch it for the visuals and the music, mostly. You know, a 'turn off your brain' kind of thing.

Is it a TV 'giant' the way that Breaking Bad, The Sopranos or Game of Thrones were?? Heck no. And it would've been nice if it that excellence to it. I like it enough to keep watching: feet up, pint in hand on a Friday night....curious to see where ssns 2 - 5 will go.

Could not get through 2nd episode of S1. When they gave a blade to Elendil I think to kill Galadriel I bailed.

I watched it all (and have collected all the foreign editions of LOTR with ROP covers), but it was disappointing. But the disappointment wasn't with how faithful or not the show followed the source material. It was a mediocre piece of storytelling on film (using "film" to cover digital). If you want a non-Tolkienist analysis of it, I learned a lot from this YouTube essay:

Never seen it. Would never knowingly buy anything from Amazon - including books. From the reviews it looks like I havn't missed anything.

Made it to “This place is so evil our torches give off no warmth.”. There is just no excuse for writing that bad. As I understand it that spared me seeing Galadriel jump ship close to valinor to brave the swim back to middle-earth! Sad to see it didnt get cancelled but considering the money that went into it I guess that was never an option.

The writing was definitely cringe worthy.
