Looking to create a "matching" set of books, looking for advices

Hello there!

I'm trying to create myself a "matching" set from old editions to proudly display on my shelf. By "matching" I mean looking coherently good together on a shelf :D.

So far, I've set my eyes on the following LOTR and Hobbit edition (see attached)

Now I'm trying to find a fitting Silmarillion. I did find this one attached but there may be a better choice.

Would any of you have an idea for a good match?

Depends on how "matching" you want your set to be.

The LoTR and Hobbit you have pictured were US editions produced by HMCO for many years and there is not a Silmarillion in that same style. The Silmarillion you have pictured is a UK BookClub edition. Which does have a H/LoTR that match it.

If you’d like a slipcased Silmarillion to go with the red and green slipcased ones you have, I’d say this one….

Hello there!

I own these beautiful editions, and I'm looking for a matching Silmarillion. I know HMCO has published a Silmarillion but I don't really find it similar to these two, so I was wondering if there was something more alike from other publishers.

I would suggest having a look at our Store for inspiration, as there is no exactly matching Silmarillion.

My vote is for the 30th anniversary deluxe slipcased edition suggested in your first thread.

The other edition you had listed would be nice as well, but the blue color and presence of a slipcase would add to the shelf appeal.

Would be nice if HMCO had released a blue, faux-leather, slipcased Sil, but alas, they did not.

I personally don't think this Hobbit and LOTR match all that well. Different sizes and different spines. Love them both though!

Maybe some of the trade edition HMCO Sils without their dust jacket would compare well:
