Tolkien Calendar 2027

27 Oct, 2025 (edited)

The official Tolkien calendar, this year containing 13 stunning illustrations and paintings inspired by The Hobbit, J.R.R. Tolkien’s beloved work of fantasy.

The official Tolkien calendar has become an established publishing event, eagerly anticipated by Tolkien fans the world over. Previous Tolkien calendars have become much sought after collector’s items, and this year’s will doubtless be an essential purchase for Middle-earth fans everywhere.

Featuring 13 full-colour paintings of scenes inspired by the story, some of which are unique to this calendar, a world-famous roll-call of artists including Alan Lee, Ted Nasmith and Pauline Baynes explores J.R.R. Tolkien’s beloved work of fantasy. Published for the first time, this calendar also includes a sketch by Maurice Sendak, creator of Where the Wild Things Are.

With a variety of artistic styles on display, this year’s calendar is a celebration of the remarkable influence Tolkien and his work has had on artists around the world since it’s publication, inspiring a creative legacy that has endured across the generations.

Can I ask Trotter if the Hobbit theme theory is based on a 'sneaking suspicion', or is there inside information being released here? I was betting on the Silmarillion theme as it is the 50th anniversary for that books publication also?
