Thanks for the link, and thanks Findegil !

Unless I'm mistaken, the Alan Lee illustrated Hobbit + LOTR trade hardcovers are not mentioned here. But I believe from prior posts that they are may be accurate, even same typesetting, as the author-illustrated and 2024 deluxe editions?

(I'm referring to Harper Collins 2020 or William Morrow 2025 editions.)

The Harper Collins 2020 (WM 2025 version should be identical except the publisher's logo and the copyright page) is mentioned in comparison 4: https://wayneandchristina.wordpress.co ... f-the-rings-comparison-4/

On closer inspection, it looks like (in comparison 5) they do mention some issues with E1 (HC paperback with the scenic covers) and E2 (the 2020 HC hardcover with Alan Lee illustrations) were eliminated based on size of page numbers at the top of the Appendices being a different size compared to the text. They hadn't noticed this at the time of Comparison 4. (I missed it but it's in the paragraph right before the list of most accurate versions.)

It is interesting that E6 gets the nod as a recommended version (2024 HC Deluxe blue/gray) even though it has the same page number issue as E2.
