Today, the "mellon / friend" passwords actually worked. It lets you subscribe to some newsletter about site updates and join a beta waitlist.

The domain appears to be now owned by Middle-earth Enterprises, I'm confused as to their current official name and is possibly being used as some sort of fan club.
