Ronald Eames writes various artists, among them is Pauline Baynes, a young artist who will go on to illustrate many Tolkien books and become a life-long friend of the Tolkien family. Tolkien had made his displeasure known of Milein Cosman's artwork (see Carpenter #116: Letter from J.R.R. Tolkien to Allen & Unwin Ltd. • 5 August 1948 (#268)) and Eames replied that George Allen & Unwin would find a new artist.
