George S. Gordon tells D. Nichol SmithDavid Nichol Smith FBA (16 September 1875 – 18 January 1962) was a Scottish literary scholar and Merton Professor of English Literature at Oxford University.[1] that he is overwhelmed at the Honours School, now numbering some 120 students. A committee has now been appointed to find new staff. He says that he needs a mature scholar, "a man of Readership or Tolkien standard in 'the other humanities'."
