Tolkien writes that he has two books accepted for publication, and nearly finished. Quotes were published from the letter in Sotheby's Catalogue of Valuable Autograph Letters, Literary Manuscripts and Historical Documents 21-22 July 1980.

Listed in M. Hime, "Ink and Lead" catalogue, 1980 - item #31 which also had an inscribed first edition of Farmer Giles of Ham to Miss R.W. How on the same date. In the letter Tolkien hopes the book will entertain Miss How. He mentions that the book is based on a family game he played with his children near Oxford.
