Smith writes to Tolkien, he encloses a letter from Christopher Wiseman. Wiseman had sent to Smith, the letters written by him and Tolkien during the winter of 1914, upon rereading them he he realised that Tolkien was correct, the group has changed.
Tolkien had written to Smith and had apparently let off steam as Smith says that he is "sorry to hear of your friction with others".
