TCG Letter #1634

From
J.R.R. Tolkien
To
Kenneth Sisam
Date
22 January 1931
Type
Unknown
Transcript
Partial
Tolkien writes to Sisam. He has done as much work on the Clarendon Chaucer as possible during his "shattered vac[ation]". He is now to be snowed under with work on external examinations for four universities and he will have no leisure before August.

He asks for more details on the intended audience, and its proposed length. Even though questions remain, he has been unable to do any further research and further work on Chaucer is required but unless he skips sleep he won't be able to do this, but then commits, however, to complete this work by summer. At that point he will be happy to look at the Ancrene Riwle.

This letter is held at the 'Oxford University Press archives'.
