Date
3 June 1936
Type

Transcript

Gordon writes to Tolkien as he had said nothing about the marking system for examinations.

He goes on to note that he has read Seinte Iuliene. He is upset that Tolkien's name is not present as an editor because "practically all that is especially valuable in it is recognisably" Tolkiens. "There is really no other piece of Middle English editing to touch it."Tolkien's name was not recognised as an editor as it would have meant that Simonne d'Ardenne would not have gained the qualifications that she needed, but she spoke privately that Tolkien should have been noted as an editor.[1]
